Quick Facts

  • Tambelin is an indigenous word meaning ‘to choose’.
  • The school was established in 1979 by lecturers of the former NSW Teachers’ College, along with other educational specialists. The first students at Tambelin were predominantly family and friends of the founders.
  • They started the school as an alternative to the state and Catholic schools in Goulburn and had one ambition in mind – to have a small country school in the heart of Goulburn CBD that offered students highly-tailored and individualised learning.
  • We cap our numbers to have no more than 32 students enrolled each year. Tambelin is granted registration under Part 7 of the Education Act 1990 for kindergarten to year 6 from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2023 – issued by NESA (NSW Education Standards Authority)
  • We teach to all key learning areas of the NSW curriculum – mathematics, English, physical education and personal development, creative arts, science and technology, geography and history.
